Original 115-page mimeographed screenplay from this Sam Peckinpah directed western written by Rudy Wurlitzer, that starred James Coburn, Kris Kristofferson, Bob Dylan (as Alias), Richard Jaeckel, Chill Wills, Jason Robards, just to name a few. One of the great westerns. Peckinpah even had a cameo appearance in this classic film, and even though Bob Dylan is not a great actor, his part in this film was important, he represented the storyteller that passed down the legend of this story to all generations (like he does in his music). The number 67 is stamped to the front cover (original MGM yellow wrappers), with the name "Eliz. Marshall (4)" hand written to the top of the front cover. Also written is "Recd 11/7/72." Some hand corrections in the text of the script, along with a few folded over corners (denoting changes). A tear at rear bottom joint on back cover, otherwise a near fine, working copy from this film classic. Though Dylan was not responsible for the sountrack of the film, he did do the music at the beginning, and the 'river music'. Who can forget "Knocking on Heaven's Door?" Now restored and reassembled, full and harmonious, the movie that Peckinpah wanted to be remembered by (before MGM got their hands on it). Like John Ford's The Man Who Shot Liberty Valance, it both records and condemns the passage of time and the advent of progress, and there is a sombre, mournful quality which places the film very high up in the league of great Westerns.
