This retrospective volume celebrates the seventy years of Kertesz' photographic career, from his youth in his native Hungary, through an exciting and fruitful decade in Paris, to his American period in Greenwich Village. It presents 150 insightful and penetrating images, including 60 photographs never before published and some 40 taken within the last ten years. While subjects of his images are varied, ranging from portraits and scenes of World War 1 to still lifes, landscapes, and cityscapes, Kertesz' personal, poetic style remains constant.

4to. First edition. Illustrated with 56 duotone plates, 40 full color plates, and over 500 halftones (102 of the images are full size, 432 are small, 1 1/2 x 2 1/4 inches). A 5 X 7 color print, "Woman With Claws", is mounted in a mat on the front cover. Original prospectus laid in. In the original printed acetate dust jacket (lightly scuffed), as issued. One of 1500 copies (though only about 400 were actually produced). Included is a catalog for an exhibition of the photographer's work, titled simply "Outerbridge." which was produced by the Los Angeles Center For Photographic Studies in 1976. It is one of 3000 numbered copies and includes a number of black and white prints (with tissue guards) together with a carbro-color photograph on the front cover.
