RED. Charles Bukowski.

Hollywood: Burn Again Press, 1989. First edition. Hardcover. 4to. Bukowski's homage to Red Stodolsky, bookseller and friend. #47 of only 50 numbered copies signed by Bukowski. Nine pages. Back in the day, when one visited Red at his Baroque Bookstore on Las Palmas in Hollywood, there would be a special copy of this on display that Buk inscribed to Red, "Two old birds / Still flying." Red would have the door locked, his back to the window and the street, have his classical music playing, and, if you knocked, and he did not recognize your face, you would not be allowed entrance. I bet those two old birds are still flying somewhere, up on high. A near fine copy in the original red cloth with spine and front cover label, with clear acetate dust wrapper, as issued. Item #13597
