An extended essay based on a series of lectures delivered at two women's colleges at Cambridge University in October of 1928. The essay is generally seen as a feminist text and is noted in its argument for both a literal and figurative space for women writers within a literary tradition dominated by men. Ownership signature of Dorothy Ames, who was once the manager of The Soho Playhouse (at 15 Vandam), was also a playwright married to Allen Boretz, also a playwright.  Boretz is best known for his 1937 Marx Brothers comedy Room Service.
