Rebound in full red morocco imitating the artwork of the original dust jacket that features a 1939-ish film camera with reel to reel and flowing film that contains the author’s name, and two critics’ comments on the book (Dashiell Hammett and Dorothy Parker). The author’s fourth and longest novel. Widely regarded as one of the best English language novels of the 20th century, The Day of the Locust is about Hollywood and its corrupting touch, about the American dream turned into a sun-drenched California nightmare. Basis for the big screen film (1975) directed by John Schlesinger that starred Donald Sutherland, Karen Black and Burgess Meredith.
