A central sequence of thirty-four poems on the ordinary life of serious farming, touching on both the brutal and the ecstatic, accompany three other sequences, different in subject, tone, and feeling. This appears to be some type of mock-up of the first American edition. Single sheets measure 7 x 8 1/2 inches. Mimeographed. Titled "Job 6009", and in this stack of sheets the first printed pages is the second page, half-title, then a blank, then "also by Ted Hughes", next sheet is publisher logo centered in the page, next is the title page, then copyright page, then "Contents" consisting of 5 pages, then a blank page, then the title and dedication (ms.p.11 printed at top left with 6009 at top right, then another blank, then the book starts with the poem "Rain". What is missing in these single sheets at the beginning is the "Brief Descriptionn" that is printed in the uncorrected proof of this edition. The last single sheet is "THE SOLE OF A FOOT" machine printed at the top "ms. p. 153." The sheets are uniformly very good plus. Item #14583
