Laid into this copy: a dated publisher's review slip with publication date of September 6, 1963 (released in the UK in 1962) : a TLS from the publicity department to reviewers, dated August 9, 1963 on publisher letterhead measuring 5 1/2 x 8 1/2 inches, approx 100 words ; a press release on 8 1/2 x 11 sheet with a drawing of a wolf from the same publicity person who signed the TLS; a slip of cardstock measuring 1 33/4 x 4 1/2 inches with both typing and handwritten information "For review in the Chicago Tribune", second line states Copy Deadline: (handwritten in "October 15 or sooner", Approximately (then handwritten) "125-150 (words) each", last line is handwritten "Your are a dear! Thanks for the note" ; on a single sheet measuring 8 1/2 x 11 inches is an unsigned book review with many annotations in pencil with the name of the book at the top, 100+ words (assumed written by Madeleine). Finally, laid into this copy is a post card addressed to Hugh Franklin, the husband of Madeleine L'Engle with the address in New York, not related to the book. The book is illustrated by Pat Marriott and sports a dust jacket designed by Edward Gorey. The book is bound in red cloth with an illustration of a wolf on the front cover. Small spot of damstain (old) to rear board that has left its mark on the bottom of the dust jacket (thimble size). The book is very good plus, the jacket is very good with sunning to spine but a very bright front panel. Item #14636
