CONTINENTAL DIVIDE. The Final Draft Screenplay

Universal City: Universal Pictures, 1980. First edition. Paperback. Original 220 page final draft screenplay dated October 9, 1980, of this romantic comedy that starred John Belushi (1949-1982) and Blair Brown. 8 1/2 x 11 sheets, brad bound into the original red Universal wrappers, complete with different color re-write sheets. Belushi's character "Ernie Souchak" is loosely based on the popular Chicago columnist Mike Royko, who's hard-nosed political reporting was legendary. Souchak is 'sent out' to the mountains where he falls in love with an eagle researcher played by Blair Brown. The film was directed by Michael Apted and written by Lawrence Kasdan, and was certainly a departure role for Belushi, who got famous from appearing on Saturday Night Live and for playing the show-stealing character "Bluto" in the film National Lampoon's ANIMAL HOUSE.
