London: Open Road Films Ltd, 1970. First edition. Paperback. 160 page screenplay, 8 1/2 x 11 sheets printed on rectos only pinned into a red folder with cut-out so title shows through. Dated 4, December 1970. Inked #12 to top right of the title page. This screenplay is illustrated with a few drawings, and was written by Carl Foreman, a brilliant writer who was a victim of the McCarthyite "Red Scare." This adventure/biography was directed by Richard Attenborough and starred Robert Shaw as the young Churchill and Anne Bancroft as Lady Jennie. The following is part of the screenplay: "This is the story of Sir Winson Churchill to the age of 26. At the same time, it is the story of Jennie and Randolph Churchill. Each of these latter two starring roles will be played by one artiste only and we will see Jennie Churchill from the age of 27 to 45; Randolph from 20-46. However, as we will be seeing Winston Churchill at various ages, and he will be portrayed by several artistes, the following names will be employed; Winnie is Churchill aged 7-9; Young Winston from 13-15; Winston from 20-26; Sir Winston after WWII. Old Winston's Voice will mean the Voice Over which quotes from his book, "My Early Life."" A very good plus copy. Item #ESB11176
